Elif Sezginer / Make-up Artist

Interview: Burçin Yaşar Üner / [email protected]

He started his career in a hairdressing salon. After a while, people around him noticed his talent for make-up.
noticed and persuaded him to progress in this field. Afterwards, she took make-up training and began to renew and improve herself day by day. He has been in this industry for 12 years. We talked about curious things about make-up with Elif Sezginer, who said, “I never feel like I’m working while doing make-up. This job is a passion and a way of life for me.”

As the weather got colder, we slowly started to turn to dark colors in our clothes. So, what colors stand out in make-up this season?

We will see very bold make-up this season. We will see striking and bold looks with the colorful eyeshadows, glitters, stones and graphic eyeliners of the 80s and 90s adapted to today. You can put your foundations with intense coverage on the shelf because shiny and thin foundations, even BB creams will replace dense foundations. On the lips, intense, eye-catching reds or lip glosses that provide a moist, natural look will be at the forefront.

Many influencers share their make-up videos on social media. How do you evaluate these videos? Do you think they help raise awareness or, on the contrary, do they encourage us to use too many products?

As in every field, there are unconscious sharings in this field, but there are also videos that offer very good content. These videos develop a person’s imagination, broaden his horizons and become a source of inspiration.

What do you think about permanent makeup? Which practices can be made permanent and which should be avoided?

I think it should be researched very well before having it done. If it is not done by a good specialist, it can have bad results. I recommend that they stay away from artificiality as much as possible and make minimal touches.

In your opinion, which make-up products or applications do women use most correctly and incorrectly?

Definitely eyeliner. Our people have a love for eyeliner and it is used in very wrong ways. The person must first analyze his own eye structure and size it in the most appropriate way. There is no such thing as eyeliner that suits every eye shape, and I don’t think everyone has the time to apply a razor-sharp eyeliner. That’s why the most common mistake I observe is eyeliners that do not look aesthetic and are not suitable for the person’s eye structure. I have a little advice for this issue: If you are having difficulty applying eyeliner, first define the line with an eyeliner and then go over it with eyeliner. I’m sure you will get better results now.

Charllotte Tilbury is my favorite makeup artist.
